Red Poppies!

This is just a ‘teaser’, a detail from a small painting that I clipped out for a marketing email, but I like it so much, I think I need to do a larger version!

I’m getting ready to do the Balboa Island Art Walk on Sunday, May 16th, Balboa Island, CA, 9 am to 5 pm.  Its a lovely day on the bayfront walk, overlooking Newport Harbor, and a great, art-filled stroll.  I’ll be located in my same spot, between Coral and Apolena Streets, just three blocks from Marine Avenue.  Come on by!

Pairing of shapes, contrast of color

Tulips are simple and marvelous.  These flowers are shaped just six petals, and their contours are so lyrical, the lines gently undulate.  And altogether they construct such a wonderful overall silhouette.   Sets the heart aflutter.  These 2 different studies of two contrasting colors are a interesting counterpoint.
